Tell me, how do love spells work?

A spell of any kind, including love works based on a couple of premises:

1. Oneness. We are all connected “spiritually”. We are all “one” spirit.

2. Knowledge. The basis of this law is that understanding brings control. The more that is known about a subject, the easier it is to excercise control over it. Knowledge is power.

3. Cause and Effect. As in science —if exactly the same actions are done under exactly the same conditions, they will produce exactly the same results.

Although many unknown variable may exist (which affects the time between the spell cast and its’ manifestation), magick can make “desired changes” through causing them on a metaphysical plane.

4. Synchronicity. There is no such thing as a mere coincidence. Two or more events happening at the same time are likely to have more in common than the merely temporal.

5. Association. If any two pattern have something in common, the patterns interact “through” those common elements, and control of one pattern facilitates control of all.

6. Similarity. Having an accurate physical or mental representation of something facilitates control over it. (Example: voodoo doll)

7. Contagion. If two things or objects have been in physical contact with each other a “magical link” binds them. How strong the link depends on how prolonged, intense or repeated frequency there has been.

Just like when you touch a “cup” you leave your DNA on it, in magic, each item or person has a spiritual DNA which can be affected.

8. Names. Knowing the “true” name of a person (or entity) gives one complete control over it.

In ancient times and cultures, a mother would “whisper” in the ear of a new born their “true” name, which held that persons’ identity, power and destiny.

Then, a nickname was given so to also identify the person to the general public. That is why some witches and other magickal practioners call themselves “Lady Moon”, “Lady Venus”, “Papa Jones”, “Mama Bridgette” etc., to protect their identity and REAL selves. If you know someones’ REAL name, you “know” them (and can help or harm them).

9. Words of Power. Certain words that are able to alter the internal and external realities of those uttering them, and the power may rest in the very sounds of the words as much as their meanings.

This is a brief list, there are many many others. But its a starting point for those seeking to learn more about love magick and spells in general.
